The top spring destinations for solo female travellers! Winter is finally saying goodbye, and I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for sunshine, blooming flowers, and cute spring outfits!
After exploring over 70 countries, I’ve picked up a thing or two about finding the best places to travel solo—and in this blog post, I’m sharing some of my favourite spring destinations for solo female travellers.
I can already picture flowers in full bloom, outdoor café vibes, and sunny days spent exploring cities or lounging on a beach with a good book.
Spring is such a fantastic time to travel solo. The weather is lovely, the peak summer crowds haven’t hit yet, and you’ll often find better prices and a more relaxed vibe during this shoulder season.
While others are still defrosting, you could already be sipping a ‘tinto de verano’ in Malaga or soaking up the sun in Singapore.

Why are these Destinations Perfect for Solo Travel?
There are so many amazing places to visit in the spring! But in this blog post, I’m focusing specifically on the best destinations for solo female travellers.
These destinations are safe, relatively easy to navigate, and worth the trip. While not all of them are ideal for a super tight budget, there are ways to keep things affordable—and trust me, some places are worth a little splurge!
For me, a great solo destination has to offer a bit of everything like beautiful sights, museums, great food, and even some unforgettable hikes or nature spots. You’ll want plenty to explore, experience, and enjoy.
The Best Spring destinations for solo travellers
1. Mexico City, Mexico
Mexico is a fantastic destination in spring, and April to May is one of the best times to visit. The weather is just right, warm and sunny without the intense heat or heavy rains that come later in the summer.
Mexico City is packed with culture, mouthwatering cuisine, colourful neighbourhoods, great day tours, and beautiful boutique stays—all wrapped in a laid-back vibe that makes solo travel here feel easy and fun.
Picture yourself sipping a spicy margarita while snacking on tacos al pastor, floating above ancient ruins on a hot air balloon ride over Teotihuacan, and wandering through the city’s neighbourhoods.
Mexico City also pairs perfectly with a trip to the coast, like Playa del Carmen or Tulum. Just keep in mind that May to November is the rainy season, though if you visit at the start, the weather is usually still lovely.
One thing I recommend is a street food walking tour in Mexico City. I’ve done similar tours in Playa del Carmen and Mérida, and they were amazing! You’ll discover local hidden gems and hole-in-the-wall spots you’d probably miss on your own.
2. Kyoto, Japan
I’ve visited Japan twice, and if you ask me, spring is one of the best times to go. The weather is mild, the days are longer, and everything is in full bloom like the cherry blossoms.
Two days in Kyoto in spring is simply magical. Picture this: historic temples and shrines surrounded by pink cherry blossoms, peaceful walks under Sakura trees, and delicious seasonal treats at every corner. It’s the perfect mix of culture, nature, and tranquillity.
If you’re planning your stay, check out the beautifully designed Ace Hotel in Kyoto which is a stylish and unique place to call home for a few nights.
And while Kyoto is the heart of traditional Japan, don’t forget to explore more! Japan is an amazing spring destination overall, and no solo adventure in Kyoto is complete without Tokyo and Osaka in the mix.
Spring is also one of Japan’s peak travel seasons, so it’s good to plan ahead. But even during high season, I’ve still managed to find affordable accommodation. Plus, with the Japanese yen currently low, your money goes further!
And if you’re looking for a fun way to explore Kyoto, don’t miss out on a Kyoto Highlights Bike Tour, it’s such a fun and unique way to see the city.
Japan is incredibly safe, organised, and welcoming, a dream destination for solo female travellers, and one of my top picks for a spring escape. I’m in love with Japan!

3. Seoul, South Korea
I fell in love with Seoul a few years ago, and I spill all the details in my ultimate solo female travel guide to Seoul.
While Seoul is magical for its beautiful fall colours, spring is just as magical. The city comes alive with cherry blossoms, fresh blooms, and sunny weather. It’s the perfect time to explore without the summer heat or freezing winter temperatures.
Springtime in Seoul means ideal weather for sightseeing, exploring cute cafés, and walking endlessly around neighbourhoods. And if you want to blend in like a local? Order an iced Americano. Yes, even if it’s still a little chilly outside!
Visit historic landmarks like Gyeongbokgung Palace and Bukchon Hanok Village, to skincare shopping in Myeongdong, and bike along the Han River (don’t forget to stop for some ramyeon or chimaek (fried chicken and beer!).
I have it all written down for you in my 5-day itinerary to Seoul or check out 21 solo things to do in Seoul.
4. New York, USA
Isn’t New York City just one of the best solo city trips in the world? I truly believe it’s hard to beat, especially in spring!
Think blooming trees in Central Park, sunny walks across the Brooklyn Bridge, an iced chai latte in Bryant Park and cherry blossoms scattered throughout the city.
The skyline views from Williamsburg are an absolute must, no matter the season, and spring is the perfect time to enjoy them without the chill or the summer heat. Just a heads up though, New York can be pricey, especially for solo travellers.
To keep things more budget-friendly, try visiting during the shoulder season or midweek stays when prices are a bit more reasonable. Accommodation is the biggest expense, but you can get around on a budget in New York.
One of my favourite places to stay is the NH Collection Madison Avenue—it’s got a prime location, a gorgeous bar, and decently sized rooms (which is a win in NYC!).
If you’re sightseeing, grab a City Go New York Pass to save on entrance fees. And if it’s your first time, a ride on the Big Bus New York is a super easy way to see all the iconic landmarks in one go.

5. Malaga, Spain
I spent a month in Malaga back in February 2022 while taking a Spanish language course, and even though it was technically still winter in Europe, the weather in Malaga was lovely.
Located on the southern coast of Spain in Andalucia, Malaga is a beautiful blend of charming old-town vibes, stunning beaches, and sunny weather. It’s like a smaller, more relaxed version of Valencia or Barcelona, perfect for solo travellers.
In spring, daytime temperatures are warm and pleasant, making it ideal for beach strolls, exploring the city centre, or sipping sangria on a sunny terrace. Just bring a light jacket, it can still get a little breezy in the evenings once the sun goes down.
Malaga is a great spot to base yourself. There’s so much more to explore beyond the city itself, you can rent a bike and cycle to Pedregalejo, a nearby beach town with chilled local vibes, or take a day trip to the stunning Alhambra in Granada.
Seville is just two hours away, or challenge yourself with a hike along the Caminito del Rey, only an hour from the city.
6. Amsterdam, The Netherlands
The Netherlands is a fantastic spring destination for solo female travellers. As the days get longer and everything starts to bloom, the cities come alive with fresh energy and colour.
Spring is the perfect time to visit as the crowds haven’t fully returned yet, prices are still reasonable, and the country starts showing off with tulip fields, green parks, and café terraces full with locals.
Of course, it’s still the Netherlands, so don’t forget to pack an umbrella. A little rain is just part of the deal here, no matter the season.
A boat tour through the canals is a must (this one has unlimited cheese and one) or what about a traditional stroofwafels workshop?
Spend your days visiting museums, local farmer’s markets, charming Dutch cafés and pubs, and of course, indulging in our food traditions. Spring is perfect for enjoying a cold beer on a sunny terrace with Dutch snacks like bitterballen.
The Netherlands has so much more to offer. Hop on a train and explore Utrecht, The Hague, Rotterdam, or Haarlem. They’re all beautiful, unique, and super easy to reach.

7. Las Vegas, USA
While Las Vegas is not a charming destination, it’s the perfect starting point for an epic road trip through Utah and Arizona! The idea is to leave Las Vegas and get ready for a solo adventure packed with nature and hiking.
If it’s your first time in Vegas, it’s worth checking out the Strip, and downtown Las Vegas, and maybe catching a show. But as someone who loves the outdoors and solo hiking, I can confidently say that a solo road trip from Las Vegas is a dream come true for adventurous women.
Check out all these amazing things to do:
- Zion National Park
- Bryce Canyon National Park
- Horseshoe Bend
- Antelope Canyon
- Valley of Fire
- Red Rock Canyon
- Death Valley
- The Grand Canyon
- Seven Magic Mountains
Spring is the perfect time for this trip. The temperatures are much more manageable compared to the scorching summer heat. Trust me, you do not want to be hiking in these areas in the middle of summer.
I visited these areas in early April and the weather was great!
You’ll need a rental car, but don’t stress, driving in the US is super easy, especially if you’re coming from Europe (automatic cars everywhere!). If you’re looking for a reliable rental, I recommend checking out Discover Cars.
8. Porto, Portugal
Like much of Southern Europe, Portugal is a dreamy destination for solo female travel in spring! Portugal is a long country, so spring weather can vary between the north and the south.
Porto, in the north of Portugal, is super safe, easy to travel around, and still affordable compared to other Western European destinations. While early Spring might still be on the chillier side, the weather is perfect for exploring.
Three days in Porto is perfect! Choose accommodation within walking distance of the sights. Porto is charming, colourful, and perfect for a solo traveller. Enjoy the riverside walks, try a port wine tasting, and indulge in the local cuisine.
I recommend adding a few beach days in the Algarve to your trip! The weather will be sunnier and warmer in the southern part of the country.
The Algarve is filled with hidden beach coves, stunning cliffs, and even watersports like stand-up paddleboarding through sea caves. It’s a perfect combination between the city and the beach.
Check out Fontinha Porto for a comfortable and great stay in Porto!

9. Capetown, South Africa
While it’s technically autumn in Cape Town during spring, it’s still an incredible time to visit. As summer winds down and the city transitions into winter, the weather remains pleasantly mild, with daytime temperatures around 20°C (68°F) and cooler evenings dropping to around 10°C (50°F).
The crowds of European winter escapees begin to thin out, making it a more relaxed and peaceful time to explore. Cape Town is bursting with charm, history, and incredible experiences just outside the city. If you love food, wine, beaches, and hiking, you’ll feel right at home here. It’s honestly a solo traveller’s dream.
Cape Town is still relatively affordable, and even upscale spots feel reasonably priced if you’re coming from Western Europe or the US. Table Mountain is an iconic sight, and there are plenty of hiking trails, ranging from short 2-hour walks to full-day treks.
And don’t miss the Franschhoek Wine Tram—it’s like a hop-on-hop-off bus, but through dreamy vineyards! I’ve done it twice and I love it!
Cape Town is fairly safe for solo travel—just stick to the right areas, use Uber, and trust your instincts. I especially loved walking around Camps Bay, soaking up the beach views and people-watching—one of my favourite travel pastimes.
10. Singapore, Singapore
Singapore is one of the places I’ve visited most during work layovers and I love it! It’s a small, walkable, safe, super clean city with amazing public transport and a great vibe for solo travellers.
While Singapore has a reputation for being expensive, it’s more affordable than most people think. The biggest cost is usually accommodation, but food and transport are very reasonable.
If you’re a foodie like me, you’ll be in heaven! Hawker centres are a must for street food but don’t skip the trendy cafés, stylish bars, and amazing restaurants influenced by Singapore’s rich cultural mix. Have you seen Crazy Rich Asians?
Spring is a great time to visit—it’s warm year-round, but spring usually means less rain than the wetter months like December and January. And yes, it’s hot and humid, but the air-con game in Singapore is strong!
There’s so much to explore, Gardens by the Bay, Marina Bay Sands, the ArtScience Museum, and of course, the joy of just wandering around the diverse neighbourhoods like Chinatown and Arab Street, with its golden mosque and charming streets.
Check out this bike tour in Singapore that catches all the highlights and this hawker centre street food tour!
