1. She’s Birdie Personal Safety Alarm
A personal safety alarm is the most straightforward safety precaution. You can hang it on your keys or your bag. The She’s Birdie Personal Safety Alarm is a top-rated safety accessory for women.
When threatened, activate Birdie’s loud siren and flashing strobe light to create a diversion and help avoid an attack. Not only will this help keep you safe, but 5% of She’s Birdie’s profits are donated to partner organizations that passionately support women’s safety, shelter, and health.
I highly recommend having it on you, especially when walking alone at night!
2. Portable Door Lock
I hate it when doors can’t be locked from the inside, and the room door doesn’t have a door bolt! You’ll be surprised how many hotels or guesthouses don’t have a bolt on the door. Another reason to stay in established hotels is that they have proper safety precautions.
There have been many times when hotel staff walked into my room while I was there. Imagine this happening when you’re sleeping. I can tell you; it’s no fun!
If the door can’t be locked from the inside with a chain lock, these portable Portable Door Locks come in handy. It will prevent anybody from coming in, even with a keycard.
3. Travelambo RFID Blocking Wallet
Getting skimmed still happens, and not only at the ATM. In this digital age, criminals get more creative every day. You’ll be surprised.
This Travelambo RFID Wallet protects your identity and credit card information from scanning and theft. It blocks any signal from anyone passing you trying to skim your cards.
Nothing sucks more than realizing you have been skimmed and having to block all your cards while travelling—also a big reason not to keep your cards in the same spot. The wallet comes in different colours and is made of high-quality genuine leather.
4. Infinity Scarf Secret Zipper
This is such a great item! I always bring a scarf when travelling. It comes in handy when the air conditioner blasts on the flight and keeps you warm when nights get chillier. This Infinity Scarf Secret Zipper comes with a secret pouch.
You can keep a small stash of cash, a credit card, or even your passport hidden in the scarf. It is also convenient for a quick run to the supermarket, and you don’t want to bring a purse!
5. Pacsafe Travel Bra Pouch
Another great item you clip onto your bra and it’s perfect for cash and a card. It keeps your belongings safely hidden under your clothing.
The Pacsafe Travel Bra Pouch is ideal for keeping money, IDs, and credit cards safe from pickpockets and thieves. It can hold up to six credit cards, cash, and a key!
It can be worn in the centre of the bra or on the side, and the pouch is an excellent alternative to neck wallets.
6. Travelon Anti-Theft Cross-Body Bag
A cross-body bag is a must-have for every woman when travelling. You’ll be safer from somebody trying to snatch your purse from you. And yes, it happens. On Bali, they drive by on bikes. Before you know it, your bag is gone, and they’re gone, too.
This Travelon anti-theft cross-body bag comes in different colours. It has many locking compartments, is slash-resistant, contains an RFID blocking card (which saves you from buying an RFID wallet!), and has a tethered key clip with LED light.
If this bag is too big for your taste, check out this slightly smaller Travelon Mini Shoulder Bag, which has the same excellent features.

7. Apple Airtag
With all the hassle going on at airports in the summer of 2022 due to the lack of staff, luggage gets lost easily. These Apple Airtags are very handy for keeping track of your luggage.
But I hear you thinking. How does this belong in the list of 10 important solo travel safety accessories? Losing your keys or wallet could be a problem, but losing your luggage will be unfortunate and not something you want to deal with when travelling!
8. Wazoo Cap
If you wear a cap like me most of the time, this one will be the perfect safety accessory. Caps are a must for hot destinations to protect you from the sun, especially when hiking.
But this Wazoo Cap has a few secret compartments to hide extra cash or a key. It has four hook and loop closure pockets, three on the inside, one in the middle of the bill, and two brim slot pockets.
The cap comes in different colours.
9. Clever Travel Company Tank Top Secret Zippers
I love what this company does! They took safety issues while travelling and turned them into excellent products—garments with secret pouches to hide valuables.
My favourite is this Clever Travel Company Tank Top Secret Zippers tank top which can be easily worn underneath your clothing.
10. Hidden Pocket Scrunchies
Another excellent safety accessory that I love! Scrunchies are back—or maybe they never left? I have been wearing more scrunchies since they’re much better for hair.
But these hidden pocket scrunchies come with a secret zipper compartment. Inside, you can stash some extra cash or even a key!
11. Portable door stop
A portable door stop is the same as a portable door lock, however, this one prevents the door from opening all the way. To be safe, I would just use both!
