Solo travel to Greece is always a good idea! Greece holds a special place in my heart, from the Acropolis in Athens to the epic sunsets of Santorini, drinking ouzo in Rhodes, and working as a bartender in Crete.
Greece is simply stunning! A little back story: My first adventure in Greece started in 2007 when I worked as a bartender in Crete during the summer break while I was still in university. The weather was hot, the nights busy and long, but the experience was unforgettable!
My first solo trip to Greece was right after the pandemic when Europe was only open to European tourists. I travelled solo to Zakynthos and Santorini. I planned an awesome solo budget trip to Santorini.
Seeing Santorini without the crowds was an experience of a lifetime!

Stunning Scenery
Greece has some of the most stunning scenery in the world, making it an ideal destination for solo female travellers seeking adventure, relaxation and culture! There are plenty of opportunities if you’re looking to spend your evenings and nights drinking away Greek wine!
Each region and island is different. I loved walking around the little cobblestone streets in Oia, but I also fell in love driving around Crete! Athens has a vibrant contrast with the beaches but is a must for some history.
Greece has some of the most beautiful beaches, making it a paradise for solo female travellers looking to soak up the sun and enjoy the sea. From the sandy stretches of Mykonos to the pebbled coves of Rhodes, there’s a beach for everyone! Zakynthos’s famous Navagio Beach, also known as Shipwreck Beach, is a must-visit.
Island Hopping
Island hopping is one of the unique experiences that makes solo travel to Greece a fantastic idea! The country’s extensive network of ferries and boats makes it easy to explore multiple islands in a single trip.
You can easily take the ferry between the islands. While ferry prices are not as cheap as a decade ago, you can still craft a pretty affordable itinerary. I recommend picking a certain island group and travelling by ferry between them!
Santorini can be combined with Mykonos, Ios, Naxos and Paros!
Lots of workshops and classes
Greece offers many classes perfect for solo female travellers looking to immerse themselves in the local culture!
Why not participate in a pottery class, a painting workshop or a Pilates on the beach of Naxos?
For the foodies among us, cooking classes are also available on every island! These classes offer a great experience in making traditional Greek dishes like moussaka, souvlaki, and baklava. If you haven’t tried it, Greek cuisine is to die for!
You can even participate in a wine-making workshop, learning about the process from vine to bottle.
Mythology and History
Greece’s rich mythology and history make it a fantastic destination for solo travel to Greece if you’re interested in learning more about ancient civilizations, legendary tales and history.
Athens is home to iconic landmarks such as the Acropolis and the Parthenon, where you can walk in the footsteps of Socrates and Plato. The ancient city of Delphi, once considered the centre of the world, offers insights into the mystical aspects of Greek mythology with its Oracle and temple ruins.
The blend of history and mythology enriches the travel experience, making Greece a must-visit for those intrigued by the past.
