I used to sit at a restaurant alone and feel like everyone was staring. Like I had to scroll on my phone just to look “busy.”

But here’s the truth: no one cares. And even if they do, let them watch because this is what confidence looks like.

The first time I ordered wine for myself, savoured every bite, and didn’t rush through the meal, I felt it. That quiet shift. I wasn’t the girl hiding behind a book anymore.

I was the woman owning her space, enjoying her own company, living her own damn life.

And now? I don’t even blink an eye eating out solo. I focus on that amazing dinner, a great new wine to try out or my favourite, people watching.

So if you’re waiting for someone to join you? Stop! Book that table for one. Order fries for breakfast.

YOU’RE the main character and she doesn’t wait for anyone!😊

- If you have the option, always try to see if it’s possible to upgrade at the gate or on board with points/miles.

Even an upgrade to economy comfort or premium comfort is worth it. And fly a proper airline where your drinks and food are included in your ticket.

- pick a seat in economy where you’re comfortable. Not pre-booking a seat means everyone else who does goes first.

Bulkhead and exit seats give extra legroom. If you need to get up a lot, choose an aisle seat.

- bring long haul flight essentials, like a sleeping mask, noise cancelling headphones, a book, proper socks, a neck pillow, snacks and iFly (to connect with the ife).

- always pre-order a meal if you have dietary restrictions, you can do this in your online booking or expect your choice to be finished.

Some airlines have to option for a premium meal, which means a more luxury meal with a drink and you’ll be served before anyone else.

- Recline your seat (after the service) and make yourself comfortable. Especially during a night flight.

Watch a movie, read a book, binge watch a series.

- Order a glass of wine, because you can. Vacation starts here! Bring your own charcuterie box. I always bring grapes, crackers, cheese, nuts, popcorn.

- dress comfortably and in layers, the temperature is never good for everyone. Bring a scarf, a sweater and easy slip-on shoes.

❓What do you always bring on a long haul flight? Love to hear your thoughts!🙏🏽

My first solo trip that changed everything!✈️🌍

FOLLOW @jetlagsarah for truthful solo female travel tips, real destination guides and big “she remembered who the f*ck she is” energy🔥

My first international solo trip changed my life.

It came from a place of being f*cking DONE.

I was done waiting for others to travel with.

Done adjusting to everyone’s schedule.

I was tired. So f*ckung tired, I just wanted rest, peace and quiet.

Laying by the pool. Sleeping as much as I needed. Eating new foods and exploring cities.

This deep feeling of wanting more and choosing myself, made me plan a solo trip.

I took the trip scared. I took the trip overpacked. I took the trip not knowing anything.

But I still did it.

Was I worried about safety? Worried about feeling alone?

Of course I was. But I still did it.

What are you waiting for?

That solo trip to Bali changed everything💙

Stop saying you’ll travel solo “when life calm Stop saying you’ll travel solo “when life calms down.” That’s code for never🤨💙

FOLLOW @jetlagsarah for solo female travel tips, destination guides and big “she remembered who the f*ck she is” energy 🔥

Let me be real with you for a sec. Life doesn’t magically calm down. There’s always going to be a work deadline, a family thing, or someone else’s drama keeping you “too busy.”

The women who finally book the trip? They’re not less busy than you. They just decide their life isn’t going to wait for “someday.”

And you don’t need to blow up your life to do it. You just need to choose yourself, even if it’s for 5 days, even if you’re scared.

Because here’s the truth: waiting for the perfect time keeps you stuck in the same story. Booking the trip is you holding the pen.

So… what’s stopping you?

✈️ Thinking about solo travelling but stuck on where to start?
